About the role
In addition to a passion for and a desire to advance the strategic objectives of Our Village, we are seeking an experienced and visionary leader with:
- A deep commitment to Our Village’s mission and values.
- Board or executive-level experience in the not-for-profit or government sector.
- Strong governance, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A robust network within the philanthropic and/or corporate sector and willingness to leverage this network to support fundraising efforts.
- Experience in scaling operations or leading organisations through growth and transformation.
Our Village is an Incorporated Association governed by a board of voluntary Non-Executive Directors. Board meetings are held quarterly (two per year online and two in person at each of our warehouses / Clayton & Geelong) and directors are also expected to sit on one board committee (Governance Committee or Finance, Risk and Audit committee) which meet between Board meetings. Directors must also attend one strategy day per year.
About the organisation
Our Village collects and rehomes pre-loved essential baby and children’s items which are sorted, cleaned, safety checked and packed by our massive volunteer crew. We then partner with social services, maternal and child health nurses and other community organisations to pass these items on to vulnerable babies and children across Victoria who need them. Instead of being discarded into landfill, good quality, safe items can now provide many more families with years of use.

- Support every child up to the age of six that needs us, first in Victoria and then beyond
- Reduce waste by ensuring children's products are used for their full safe lifespan
- Contribute to thriving communities, social connection and employment opportunity by providing enjoyable and fulfilling volunteering experiences
